Kivcet furnace is a modern lead and zinc smelting equipment, which is developed by the former Soviet Union in 1960s. It combines the flash smelting process and electric arc slag cleaning into one, and produces low sulfur-containing crude lead and low lead-containing slag.
Kivcet furnace consists of four parts in structure: reaction shaft for flashing smelting, bath with coke checkers for reduction of lead oxide, vertical uptake for off-gas, and electric heated reduction zone for reduction of lead- and zinc-oxide and evaporation. Reaction shaft and reduction zone is separated by partition wall.
Like in flash smelting furnace, the wearing lining of Kivcet furnace undergoes strong chemical attack and erosion of molten metal and slag, therefore premium refractory product need to be employed. Besides, the external water-cooling operation for the reaction shaft shell and water-cooling copper jacket for bath sidewall are highly recommended to extend service life of refractory lining.
