Lead Blast Furnace

Lead blast furnace is the smelting equipment of traditional two-step “roasting-reduction” process of lead production. Main purpose of this equipment is to recover the crude lead from incoming roasted lead concentrate.
From top to down, lead blast furnace's body can be divided roughly into stack, tuyere area, slag spout area and hearth (inside bottom). Refractory material is used typically only in slag spout area and hearth, while the furnace stack and tuyere area are protected by water-cooling steel/copper jacket.
Typical slag components of lead blast furnace are FeO, SiO2, CaO and ZnO, which would cause strong corrosion to slag spout and hearth. In this regard, semi-rebonded magnesia-chrome brick with Cr2O3%≥20% (FB6457BS-20) is recommended in slag spout due to its excellent resistance to corrosion and erosion. The same magnesia-chrome brick or magnesia brick (FB6057) should be applied to lead spout for the similar reason.
In hearth sidewall, magnesia brick (FB6057) or magnesia-chrome brick should be applied as wearing lining. Outside wearing lining is refractory chamotte brick (Fb8057). The outmost lining consists of chamotte insulation brick (IB8057C) or insulation refractory castable (UI8057C).
Hearth bottom follows the similar refractory lining concept as sidewall, which is magnesia brick/magnesia chrome brick, chamotte brick and insulation layer respectively from the inside out. Bricks should be laid to shape a counter-arch.
Yanmu's recommended refractory usage in lead blast furnace is summarized in the following table. For further products information please refer to previous chapter “Refractory Products Collection for Non-Ferrous Metallurgy”.
